Gradually we have been returning to in-person zazen on School St, beginning with outdoor noon sits three days each week. The sangha has begun to return to the zendo for zazen two evenings a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These times coincide with the zoom zendo, allowing all to participate at the same time, with a brief zoom-zendo-people and porch-people gathering after service. Soon we hope to expand to include Monday and Friday evenings.

We expect that in late May or early June, we will be able to have full service in the zendo with bells, bowing and chanting, even while the community is welcome to zoom in.

For a while, the Wednesday evening program will continue on zoom only, as the safe seating capacity of the zendo is less than our typical attendance for dharma talks.

Current In-Person Offerings

  • Tuesday/Thursday evening zazen at 113 School St., 6:00-6:40 p.m. alongside regular Zoom zazen; without chanting in zendo

  • Offer outdoor sittings, 12:00-12:40 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at the center.

We sit distanced and masked along with others who are on zoom sitting at home. We do not chant aloud together while in person; the zoom zendo bells and chants will continue as usual. If there are more than 10 people, some will be asked to sit on the porch or in the garden. You may be asked for information to help with contact tracing, if that ever becomes necessary.
