After ten years that included service as head teacher and member of the teaching council, Kokyo Henkel leaves SCZC with his wife, Shoho Kuebast, who is also an SCZC practice leader, for new adventures in Colorado and Nepal. Starting in May, they will begin a three-month personal silent retreat on Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s Land of Self-Cognizant Wakefulness in Crestone, Colorado. Afterward, hopefully travel restrictions will open so they can travel to Nepal, where Shoho will pursue her master’s degree.
Their departure follows a three-hour long online going away party and departing monk jundo on April 26, which included a full recitation of the Samdhinirmocana Sutra.
Best of luck, thank you, and safe travels, Kokyo and Shoho!
