Buddha’s Teachings on Not-Self and True Self in the Mahayana Parinirvana Sutra

6-week class series with Rev. Kokyo Henkel.

This epic scripture appeared in third-century India, introducing buddha’s final teaching of buddha-nature as our true Self, and it then became one of the main sources of the early Zen tradition in China.

Through exploring highlight passages of this important but under-appreciated sutra, and discussing how to practice with them, we will come to appreciate why these radical teachings became the basis for the experiential direct path of Zen.

Suggested donation: $10/class for sustaining members, $13 for others.
