Tokudo Priest Ordination Ceremony at Santa Cruz Zen Center

Great congratulations to two new priests ordained at Santa Cruz Zen Center Friday evening, May 10th! 

Rev. Rene Netter was given the name Dai Ki Soku Chu, Great Tree Immediate Center. His Zen practice dates back to his teen years. He is currently a Santa Cruz Zen Center Board Trustee and a member of the doanryo. His community interest include sustainable public transportation and climate activism. 

Rev. Steve Palmisano was given the name Gen Chi Chi Yo, Subtle Pond Earth Embrace. He has a 30-year history at Santa Cruz Zen Center and has been a Board Trustee, member of the doanryo, and currently leads the monthly Earth Care Sangha group. In the community, he is one of the leaders of Dayenu, an interfaith climate action group, and he is an eco-chaplain.

 The ceremony was attended by over 50 people including friends and family of the ordainees, SCZC Sangha members, and spiritual friends from Ocean Gate Zen Center and Insight Santa Cruz.
