This Saturday Sangha’s discussion topic is “Buddhist and western psychology: what views do the share and how do they differ?”.
Reverend Patrick Teverbaugh was ordained in 1999 and received Dharma Transmission from Katherine Thanas Roshi in January, 2011. He received a medical degree at Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed training in psychiatry at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Patrick worked as a psychiatrist for Santa Cruz County for almost 25 years until his retirement in 2015.
Patrice Monsour is a clinical psychologist and Senior Zen Student. She began practicing with Katherine Thanas in 1995 and received lay ordination in 2000. Patrice holds a PhD from the University of Denver and has worked for over 30 yrs as a psychologist in university and community mental health settings.
Reverend Neti Parekh was authorized to teach in the Diamond Sangha Koan Tradition in 2009 and was ordained as a Soto priest by Rev. Kokyo Henkel in 2017. She holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from SJSU and works full time in private practice.
