5:00 a.m. Friday, August 9 through lunch on Sunday, August 11.
This sesshin is our version of the practice described by Uchiyama Roshi in his book, Opening the Hand of Thought. We will observe silence throughout the 3 days, and will forgo our usual chanting, services, and lectures. Within this silence, without distractions, we settle deeply into our practice of the Way.
In order to develop stability and concentration amidst the intensity of our sitting and silence, participants are encouraged to do all 3 days of the sesshin. The schedule will extend from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 5 a.m. through lunch on Sunday. Each day will include morning teachings and formal oryoki meals.
Suggested donation is $35/day for Sustaining Members, $45/day for Contributing Members and others—but any donation that fits your budget will be accepted. An oryoki set can be rented for $10. After you submitting below, feel free to donate online, or you may donate at the time of sesshin via cash or check. Thank you very much.
